Welcome to Zonta Club of Charlevoix Area                            Chartered May 19, 1989                                                         President: Beth Strawbridge

Zonta International seeks to advance the status of women worldwide by improving the legal, political, economic, educational, health and professional status of women at the global and local levels through service and advocacy.

Zonta Club of Charlevoix Area, is one of over 1,200 clubs of Zonta International, a worldwide service organization.  Founded in 1919 in Buffalo, New York, Zonta takes its name from the Lakota Sioux Indian word meaning “honest and trustworthy.”  Zontians volunteer their time, talents and energy to local and international service projects that are designed to advance the status of women.

The Zonta Club of Charlevoix Area was chartered by the Zonta Club of Petoskey, and is part of District 15, Zonta International.  The club has 39 members, 8 of whom are Charter members.  Over the years, the Club has been active in enhancing the status of women internationally and on a local level.  The Zonta Club of Charlevoix also supports leadership and educational endeavors for women, as well as provides financial support for Zonta International projects that are often in conjunction with the United Nations Committees, serving to help improve the lives of women and children worldwide.
