The Zonta Club of Charlevoix Area was chartered by the Zonta Club of Petoskey, and is part of District 15, Zonta International. The club has 39 members, 8 of whom are Charter members. Over the years, the Club has been active in enhancing the status of women internationally and on a local level. The Zonta Club of Charlevoix also supports leadership and educational endeavors for women, as well as provides financial support for Zonta International projects that are often in conjunction with the United Nations Committees, serving to help improve the lives of women and children worldwide.
The Zonta Club of Charlevoix meets the ideals and mission of Zonta through annual hands-on projects including:
* Sights on Success – ‘Free Annual Confidence-Boosting and Team Building All-Day Retreat for Middle-School Girls’
* The Mastectomy Pillow Project – Personal pillows made for breast cancer patients
*Community Information – Programs on Pertinent Women’s Issues
* Collecting Needed Items – Provided to the Women’s Resource Center and local food pantry
* Mad Hatter Tea Party – Elementary age young women and their “special person” tea
We also provide four scholarships to help women and girls advance their educational opportunities, and contribute to Zonta International to support international service projects.
