Honey House Book Club, Zonta Club of Mt. Pleasant partnered for a FREE showing of A PATH APPEARS documentary on Sunday April 19, 2015

The Honey House Book Club, Zonta Club of Mt. Pleasant and other proud community sponsors presented a free public showing of the documentary “A Path Appears.” This book turned film is part of PBS’s Independent Lens series, and addresses domestic violence, pervasive poverty, and human trafficking and its impact on women and children. This was the third year that the Honey House Book Club and Zonta have partnered to showcase films that raise consciousness.  An invited panel of local and regional advocates were on hand to help community members discover ways to make a difference globally and locally.

A free will offering was taken at the end of the program for organizations that support women and children at the local (Mt. Pleasant Women’s Initiative and Women’s Aid), regional (Michigan Human Trafficking Task Force) and international levels (A Path Appears).

Sponsors included the Honey House Book Club, Chippewa River District Library, WCMU Public Broadcasting, Isabella Bank, and the Zonta Club of Mt. Pleasant.

We recently donated cold weather apparel, clothing, and personal hygiene products to the high school SPARC closet (Students Providing A Real Chance).  The SPARC closet provides high school boys and girls who are homeless or whose families do not have the financial means to purchase appropriate clothing, personal hygiene products or school supplies.
