Committees

 

Zonta International seeks to advance the status of women worldwide by improving the legal, political, economic, educational, health and professional status of women at the global and local levels through service and advocacy.

Committees are appointed by the President with the approval of the Board. The Standing Committees are:

Organization, Membership and Classification Committee – propose and determine the eligibility of each person proposed for membership in accordance with the bylaws of the Club. They are also responsible for fellowship, welcoming for each meeting, auctions or raffles, or other hospitality oriented activities.

Public Relations, Communications, Program and Newsletter Committee – use all forms of media to advance the objects of Zonta International, develop a comprehensive plan to create internal and external awareness of Zonta International and encourage positive community and international relations. They also recommend action and devise and execute plans for improvement of the community and public welfare. This committee is responsible for all Club publicity and event publicity. Other charges include assisting the Vice President in identifying speakers for the program meetings and the monthly member newsletter.
The United Nations Committee is a subcommittee of the Public Relations, Communications, Program and Newsletter Committee – the subcommittee promotes contacts with clubs and Zontians worldwide and recommends programs to improve international relations. They also provide information concerning the UN and its agencies and the activities of Zonta International with the UN.

Status of Women and Service Committee – recommends action in accordance with the objects of Zonta International to improve the status of women, promote legislative awareness, advocacy and equal rights. They promote interest in the community and the Club in Amelia Earhart and the Amelia Earhart Fellowship Award. In addition they promote projects sponsored by Zonta International and identify and support local service projects.

Finance Committee – prepares an annual budget and submits it to the Board of Directors for their recommendations before consideration by the Club. They provide for an annual audit and report at the annual meeting. They also devise plans for raising money necessary to promote the purposes of the Club. Other charges include verifying that money is available for non-budgeted service projects or recommending ways of obtaining the funds. They prepare a list of allowable reimbursements to conventions, conference, and workshops. When necessary, they act as an ad-hoc committee for bylaw, policy and procedure changes or additions.
