WELCOME to Zonta Pontiac-North Oakland                                                President:  Marilyn Valeri Colton

Our Zonta Club has been serving the local community since 1927. In those 90 years over $500,000 has been contributed to benefit local women.

We are one of over 1,200 clubs of Zonta International, a worldwide service organization. Founded in 1919 in Buffalo, New York, Zonta takes its name from the Lakota Sioux Indian word meaning “honest and trustworthy.” Zontians volunteer their time, talents and treasure to local and international service projects that are designed to advance the status of women through service and advocacy.

16 Days of Activism

Zonta Pontiac-North Oakland is supporting 16 Days of Activism.  From 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, to 10 December, Human Rights Day, the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence Campaign is a time to galvanize action to end violence against women and girls around the world.  Our display at the Oakland County Courthouse showcases silhouettes to represent those women who have lost their lives to domestic violence in our county.  Over 6,000 reported domestic violence cases in Oakland County with 11 deaths attributed to Domestic Violence.   We need to work together to reduce these numbers.

Our Display at the Oakland County Courthouse:

Each silhouette represents the a woman who lost their life to domestic violence, 11 too many.  Over 6000 reported assaults, shameful and unacceptable.  Join us and take the Pledge to Say NO to Violence Against Women.
