District 15 Proposed District Slate for 2026-2028

Cindy Vickery

Cindy Vickery

Governor

Cindy joined Zonta in looking for a way to connect with others to make a difference. Over the years she has had the opportunity to work with many great leaders in the club and district and continues to develop her own leadership skills. The 2017 Fall Conference opened her to Zonta on a larger scale and the amazing members from around the district. That prompted Cindy to pursue leadership positions in her club and ultimately the district. She has served as 1st and 2nd vice president, president during the challenging 2020–2021-year, fundraising chair, and treasurer for the Midland club. At the district level she has served as area director during the 2022-24 biennium and is currently Lt. Governor and webmaster. She has attended one international convention and three North American Inter-District Meetings and lead the host committee for the 2025 event in Michigan.

She began her career in occupational health, has owned small businesses and worked in customer support and management. Currently she works part time as a meetings and events professional with side gigs in personal training and graphic design. In addition to her many volunteer hours with Zonta she is a board member and active volunteer for Midland County Search and Rescue and volunteer with Tall in the Saddle 4H Exceptional Riders Program. In her spare time, she likes to travel, work out, walk with her husband, read and cook.

Malinda Smith

Malinda Smith

Lt. Governor

With a deep commitment to Zonta’s mission, I have been a proud member of the Zonta Club of Fenton Area since 2016. My leadership journey has progressed from serving as club secretary, treasurer, vice president, and president, to taking on district-level responsibilities. As District 15 Secretary during the 2022-2024 biennium, I gained invaluable insight into the operational framework of our district. Currently, as the Area 3 Director for the 2024-2026 biennium, I am actively engaged with clubs throughout the area. This comprehensive experience has prepared me to effectively serve as your next Lieutenant Governor, and I am excited to continue building on the great work we do in District 15 and internationally.

My professional life as a middle and high school counselor for the past thirty years has equipped me with a unique skill set in problem-solving and navigating complex situations. Holding a master’s in counseling, I am passionate about leveraging new insights from brain science to help others thrive. After I retire, I hope to continue serving the community in a new capacity.

In my spare time, I find peace and creativity in crocheting and gardening. Whether I’m working on a large project like a queen-size afghan or tending to my vegetable garden, these activities are a wonderful source of calm and renewal. My two daughters, who reside in Florida and Ohio, are a constant source of joy, and we are all eagerly preparing for my youngest’s wedding in 2026.

Karla Oldenberg

Karla Oldenberg

Treasurer

My name is Karla Oldenburg, and I’d like to begin by expressing my sincere gratitude for your continued support during my current term as District Treasurer, and for nominating me to serve another two years. It is truly an honor.

I became a member of the Zonta Club of Midland in October 2012 and joined the board the following year. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of serving in various leadership roles including Treasurer, Vice President, President, and Conference Treasurer during the District 15 Conference hosted in Midland. After a decade of active involvement, I took a brief step back from leadership in 2022–2023 to focus on a career transition and family responsibilities. I’ve since returned to serve as your District Treasurer for the current biennium.

Professionally, I’ve worked in public accounting for 24 years, beginning my career with Yeo & Yeo, CPAs. In April 2021, I transitioned to Rehmann LLC to be closer to home and better support my family. I’ve been a Certified Public Accountant for 20 years.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my pets—which include several cats—and being with my family. My brother, mother, and I all live on our family’s farm, where my brother and I represent the fifth generation. I take great pride in maintaining the property and contributing to its ongoing improvements. When time allows, I enjoy connecting with friends, including my Zonta sisters, shopping, and playing puzzle games on my phone.

Thank you once again for considering me for the role of District 15 Treasurer. I am excited about the opportunity to continue serving Zonta and advancing our mission. I firmly believe that women’s rights are human rights, and that every woman is capable of achieving whatever she sets her mind to.

Mary Fassett-Barth

Mary Fassett-Barth

Area 3 Director

My name is Mary Fassett-Barth and it is a great honor to be nominated for the position of D15 Area 3 Director.  I wholeheartedly believe that women deserve the right to sit at the tables where decisions are being made. We have the ability to wear many hats and navigate difficult paths. We continue to exhibit our skills and our ability to achieve incredible things when we put our minds together and use our collective energies.

I became a member of the Zonta Club of Milford in September of 2020.  I was nominated as President of the club for the 2022-2024 term..  I had no idea what was involved, but I knew I could make it work. This term was a process of ramping back up after COVID. As a club we redefined our focus and how we would get there. Now in my second term (2024-2026), our club is blooming.  We’ve added 8 new members, and established a cadence of activities that will carry us into the next few years. We’ve leveraged the skills of our members to fuel these initiatives. Everyone is finding their groove and contributing in valuable ways.

I am also currently serving as the D15 Secretary for the 2024-2026 term. I have enjoyed getting my feet wet at this next level.

Professionally, I retired in 2019 when I moved to MI. My previous work life was in the telecommunications sector, serving as an IT Software Development Project Manager.

In my personal time, I love reading, gardening, painting with chalk, and being outside doing myriad ‘outdoorsy’ activities. I love spending time with my husband, family and friends.

Thank you so much for considering me for this role.  I look forward to building new connections, making new Zonta friends and moving forward with our mission to make a better world for women and girls.

Carrie Griesinger

Carrie Griesinger

Area 4 Director

My name is Carri Griesinger. I am the currant President of Zonta of Lenawee. I joined Zonta in 2017 and have hit the ground running. It has become a passion I didn’t know I was lacking.  I was invited to an event Zonta was hosting and I quickly learned I was right where I needed to be. The mission, the partnerships they have, the community. Women are my life. I own a salon and I have been a cosmetologist for over 25 years. I am married to a wonderful man, have 2 beautiful daughters, a great son in law, and 2 of the cutest grand daughters you’ll ever see! I enjoy getting out and working with my local community, doing fundraisers and hosting parties. I have recently taken to golfing and love it! Being a part of such a great group of women has made me a better person and I look forward to all of the things to come as I grow with Zonta! Cheers!
