Zonta Club of Alpena

Who We Are

Charter Date:

The Zonta Club of Charlevoix Area was chartered by the Zonta Club of Petoskey, and is part of District 15, Zonta International.  With its twenty-three members (three of whom are Charter members), the Club is an active presence in the Charlevoix community, working to advocate, promote and enhance the status of women on a local level, as well as internationally.  Zonta Club of Charlevoix also supports leadership and educational endeavors for women and provides financial support for Zonta International projects (in conjunction with the United Nations Committees), serving to help improve the lives of women worldwide.

The Zonta Club of Charlevoix meets the ideals and mission of Zonta through annual hands-on projects including:

* Sights on Success – Leadership Training All-Day Retreat (free!) at Camp Hayo-Went-Ha for Middle-School Girls with emphasis on confidence-boosting and team-building activities

*Community Involvement – Sponsoring local programs and educational opportunities on pertinent women’s issues

* Collection campaigns – Providing non-perishable food items and personal products to local food pantries, women’s shelters, and Charlevoix Area Hospital Emergency Department

* Annual scholarships – providing funding for local scholarships to qualified applicants, helping women advance their educational opportunities.
