Service Projects

  • Purses for Purpose – Michigan State Police

The Michigan State Police Alpena post collects new purses/handbags the month of March to support victims of sexual assault.  April is sexual assault awareness month. Our club collects purses and hygiene items that are then donated to Hope Shores Alliance.

  • One Box for Ukraine

Collecting and sending boxes of needed items to the clothing center in Krakow to benefit women and children.

  • The SOAP Project

The SOAP Project’s mission is to end human trafficking by mobilizing communities, providing prevention education and advocacy, and facilitating restorative experiences for survivors.  Human Trafficking is the second largest crime in the United States. It is appalling that the average age of entry in to trafficking is between 12 and 14 years old.

  • Holiday Wish List

Generous giving of our club and its members to a non-profit organization in need during the holidays.  2021 organization of choice was Hope Shores Alliance.  Gifts along with a monetary donation, to assist Hope Shores Alliance when working with their families.  Journals are such an important part to give survivors a private place to record their thoughts, feelings, and experiences while navigating an often difficult healing journey.

  • American Foundation for Suicide Prevention Out of the Darkness Community Walk – Rogers City/Northeast Michigan

Saves Lives and Brings Hope.  Many people’s introduction to AFSP comes through the Out of the Darkness Walks, taking place in cities nationwide. In our Community, Campus and Overnight Walks, those affected by suicide – and those who support them – raise awareness and much-needed funds, strongly sending the message that suicide is preventable, and that no one is alone.

  • Adopt a Highway in Michigan

Adopt-A-Highway is a Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) program designed to help keep the state’s highway roadsides clean and attractive. Participants adopt both sides of a section of state highway roadside to clean up for at least a two-year period. A minimum two-mile stretch of roadway is recommended.

  • Rogers City Nautical City Festival

The Nautical City Festival is a safe, fun filled, family event that promotes community pride in Rogers City.  Stakeholders include: Rogers City Area Chamber of Commerce, Rogers City Servicemen’s Club, Kiwanis Club of Rogers City, Optimist Club of Rogers City, Knights of Columbus Council #1705 and the Zonta Club of Rogers City Area.

International Service

Zonta International is passionate about providing life-changing opportunities for women and girls through international service. By partnering with agencies of the United Nations and other recognized non-governmental organizations, Zonta has improved women’s health, provided better economic opportunities and prevented gender-based violence in 66 countries. Since our first service project, Zonta has contributed more than US$32.7 million to our international service projects.
