Mission

Zonta International is a leading global organization of members empowering women worldwide through service and advocacy.

Vision

Zonta International envisions a world in which women’s rights are recognized as human rights and every woman is able to achieve her full potential.  In such a world, women have access to all resources and are represented in decision making positions on an equal basis with men.  In such a world, no woman lives in fear of violence.

Meeting Information

The Zonta Club of Gaylord Area meets 5:30 p.m. the fourth Tuesday of each  month at the Otsego County Library.  Business Meetings typically end before 7:00 p.m. Quite often, after business meetings we will enjoy drinks or dinner together; the location is determined after business is finalized.  We do not have a meeting in July. However, please watch for our scholarship recipients in the Alpenfest Parade.  Our December meetings are a Christmas Party.  The location varies from year to year.  Please contact us for details: gaylordzonta@gmail.com

What We Do

The Zonta Club of Gaylord Area supplies annual scholarships to Graduating High School Seniors in Otsego County, a local Young Women in Public Affairs Award, Inland Seas Young Women in Science Scholarship, plus an annual scholarship through the Women’s Resource Center to support a survivor returning to school.  We also act as a funnel to the Zonta International Young Women in Public Affairs Award, Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarship and the Amelia Earhart Fellowship.

The Zonta Club of Gaylord Area seeks to further our mission of empowering women through service and advocacy.  Our local projects are ever evolving, however the Hospital Book Bag Project remains our steadfast constant.  This program puts gift bags in the hands of all new mothers at Otsego Memorial Hospital.  Those bags contain some board books for infants with literature on the importance of reading to children.  It also contains resources such as a child development wheel, baby’s first library card, local resources for new moms, and more.  See brochure below for more information.
